Power Allocation and Parameter Estimation for Multipath-Based 5G Positioning

We consider a single-anchor multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing system with imperfectly synchronized transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) clocks, where the Rx estimates its position based on received reference signals. The Tx, having (imperfect) prior knowledge about location surrounding geometry, transmits signals set of fixed beams. develop strategies for power allocation among beams aiming to minimize expected Cramér-Rao lower bound positioning. Additional constraints design are included make optimized robust uncertainty line-of-sight (LOS) path direction. Furthermore, effect clock asynchronism proposed is studied. Our evaluation results show that, non-negligible synchronization error, it optimal allocate large fraction available illumination non-LOS (NLOS) paths, which help resolve offset. In addition, complexity reduction achieved by our suboptimal approach incurs only small performance degradation. also propose an off-grid compressed sensing-based estimation algorithm, exploits information offset provided NLOS that asymptotically efficient.
